The Olive Experience History

In 2017, Rick and his wife Claire followed a dream and opened The Olive Experience in Guelph.

The Olive Experience Inc has deep roots in the Guelph community through Claire’s family. The Clair’s came from Ireland in the 1820’s, with Clair Road being named after them. Irene Clair was the youngest daughter that lived on the farm at Clair Road and Gordon. Irene named her eldest daughter “Claire”. The Hanlon Expressway is named for Claire’s cousins, the Hanlon’s.

Rick’s family has roots in Italy, his father coming from the small town of Bannia, north of Venice.

From the very beginning, Rick embraced the store with enthusiasm and dedication. He loved sharing his knowledge, talking about his favourite recipes, and introducing customers to the incredible flavours and health benefits of extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

But what Rick cherished most was the connection with people. Whether welcoming a first time visitor or catching up with a regular customer, he found true joy in the conversations, friendships, and community that grew within the walls of the store. Rick was deeply grateful for the kindness and support of everyone who walked through our doors.

Today, his passion and spirit live on through his family, our dedicated staff, and the amazing customers who continue to be part of The Olive Experience community.

His love for this place will always remain a part of its story.
